Firstly it is important to differentiate between End-of-Life and obsolete components. End-of-Life (EOL) components are determined by the manufacturer, for example a Freescale part, when they feel the product is at the end of its commercially viable life. Obsolete on the other hand is when the product has gone EOL (past the last time buy date) and can no longer be purchased from direct supply or any franchised source.
