Many OEM and EMS companies rely on an Independent Distributor or Broker to search for hard-to-find and obsolete parts. Your preferred broker will typically have somewhere they go to search for you. They may search through the many forums that are out there such as: NetCOMPONENTS, Broker Forum, IC Source and many more Asian based platforms. There are also companies like Find Chips and Octoparts that you can access directly to search through franchised and trusted stock which is a useful tool. These companies often have pricing on them so you can click through and "buy now". We advertise on all of these forums but you can also search through our own stock on our website, componentsense.com. If you wish you can purchase direct from our new cart facility.
Many Broker OEM and EMS companies are signing up to our New "BOM Matching" service to access fully traceable, top quality guaranteed parts at a fraction of their current cost.
Our Bill of Materials (BOM) Matching Service
Basically you put all of your BOM (all the products you require to build your product) into our system. You can upload it straight into our website in various formats such as a spreadsheet or CSV, we can also give you FTP or API access on request.
Benefits of BOM Matching
Less effort more reward. We do all of the hard work for you.
We feedback matches as and when they arise. We will only contact you if there are significant savings to be made.
Risks to companies for giving you their Bill of Materials?
Many companies think there is a risk. Companies are quite scared to give out their BOM typically because they are always worried there is intellectual property in their data. There is to some degree but in reality we are putting this information directly into a computer system first and foremost. Nobody is going into each component in that much detail. Our focus is really on saving you money and not on working out what you are building. Also most BOMs are made up of lots of products. The companies we typically deal with are very large companies and they will be building many different products. If you merge your whole BOM together there is no-one on the planet who could decipher and make sense it.
We can reassure everyone that any information only stays within Component Sense and our your systems. We sign Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) with all our clients and that is standard. If you submit a BOM it is automatically covered under the NDA.
